Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC)
What is LINC?
SIA offers free English language classes through the Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program. Classes are available in-person across Saskatoon and fully online for eligible newcomers across Saskatchewan.
Who can Register?
You may be eligible for LINC classes if you:
- Are 18 years of age or older;
- Are either a Permanent Resident of Canada, Protected Person or a Convention Refugee who has been selected by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC); and
- Have a current language assessment which supports referral to SIA’s LINC classes
- Need training in Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels 1 to 8
How to Register
Step 1: Get a Language Assessment
Before registering, all participants need a Language Benchmark Test provided at the following centre.

During your LARC appointment, you can request a referral to SIA’s LINC classes. Please review the class schedule below before your appointment to see which location and schedule best fits your needs.
Step 2: Referral and Registration
Once LARC refers you to SIA and provides your CLB scores, an SIA staff member will contact you to complete the registration form. You may either be placed on a waitlist or enrolled in an available course.

If you live outside of Saskatoon but elsewhere in Saskatchewan, we also offer five fully online classes through our Provincial Online Model delivery system.

- Women Lead (WL) provides a blend of Employment and Language Skills over a 6-month period, having two in-person intakes each year in Saskatoon, one in April & one in October. Open to Newcomer Women with a CLB 3-5
- Employment Related Language Training (ERLT): CLB 6-8 classes include components to help LINC clients improve English through employment readiness training and support. This includes understanding Canadian workplace culture, preparing for job searches and interviews, and developing skills such as writing resumes, cover letters, and professional emails, as well as practicing speaking and listening in professional settings.
