LINC Support Services

Digital Literacy Support

  • SIA offers digital literacy support in both one-on-one and group settings.
  • Clients in SIA’s LINC classes can make in-person appointments with the Digital Literacy Assistant to receive hands-on instruction to help them navigate their online classes. Covering topics such as how to use Zoom, email or troubleshooting any tech issues that might arise. The Digital Literacy Assistant is also available by phone or email to answer questions or to find a solution to your tech issues at any time.
  • SIA also offers group digital literacy sessions during class time that cover a wider range of topics such as Zoom, Google Docs, email attachments, word processing and job search tips.

Access to CNC Care

  • Our Care for Newcomer Children (CNC) program offers daycare options for our LINC clients. CNC supports SIA LINC clients by making CNC a safe, educational, and encouraging environment for their kids in the program.
  • Daycare is available for all weekday LINC classes, and we offer CNC for children between the ages of 19 months and 12 years old. SIA meets strict guidelines to provide safe and high-quality care for immigrant and refugee children.

LINC Settlement Support

  • The LINC Settlement Counsellor helps LINC clients find information and access resources. These services are available to LINC clients on the waitlist, and those enrolled in a LINC English class.
  • Some of the services provided include support for housing, education, transportation, healthcare, and accessing leisure resources. The LINC Settlement Counsellor also provides mental health support services to clients.
  • Services are flexible, client led, confidential and free of charge.

LINC Employment Support

  • LINC Employment Support is offered to all LINC students, whether they are currently enrolled in a class or are waiting for their class to begin.
  • The Employment Coordinator can meet one-on-one with clients to help with job search tools such as resumes, cover letters, job interview preparation and job searches.
  • The coordinator can also provide information and resources on accreditation, licensing, certifications, and educational opportunities for professionals.
