Indigenous and Newcomer Employment Services (INES)

Are you an Indigenous or newcomer youth (ages 18-29) looking to start a career in Saskatchewan? INES can help! We offer free individual support, group workshops, and volunteer opportunities to help you connect with employment, each other, and the community. We also help you develop your confidence and appreciation for diversity, and gain workplace experience through volunteer opportunities. You can attend as many employment counselling sessions and workshops as you need.

Our program goals are to:

  • Connect Indigenous and Newcomer youth to employment, each other, and the community.
  • Increase confidence to attain/maintain employment.
  • Develop and strengthen appreciation for diversity and acceptance; and
  • Gain workplace experience through volunteer opportunities.
  • Free individual support and guidance from experienced career counselors
  • Group workshops on topics such as resume writing, interview skills, and cultural competency.
  • Volunteer opportunities to gain work experience in your field of interest.
  • A network of supportive peers and mentors.

To register for INES, you must be:

  • Between the ages of 18-29
  • Indigenous person (First Nations, Metis, or Inuit) or Newcomer (Canadian Citizen, Work Permit, PR or Refugee).
  • Living in Saskatchewan; and
  • Legally able to work in Canada.
Flexibility for your Convenience

We understand that everyone has different needs and preferences, so we offer a variety of ways to make it easy for you to get the help you need:

  • Multiple ways to connect with us: in person, on Zoom, by email, or over the phone.
  • We accept all ages and English levels.
  • Sessions are available during the day, evening, and weekends.
  • We are available to support clients across the province.
What happens during your Employment Session?

During an employment counseling session, we will discuss your job search goals and how you can use your skills and experience to achieve them. We offer a variety of services to help you succeed, including:

  • One-on-One Employment Counseling: We will work with you to assess your skills and interests, develop a job search plan, and practice your interviewing skills, refer you to programs and services within the community.
  • Workshops: We offer workshops on resume writing, networking, digital literacy, financial literacy, and intercultural skills.
  • Workplace Experience: Volunteering opportunities to help you gain work experience, network with potential employers, and learn new skills.
