Saskatchewan Intercultural Association (SIA) certified as a Great Place to Work

For a second time, Great Place to Work® has certified Saskatchewan Intercultural Association (SIA) as a Great Place to Work.

Great Place to Work Certification is an accreditation that demonstrates to the market that SIA is an employer of choice while also helping us become an even better workplace through reporting, analysis, and next steps to enable an even more successful culture.

“We believe that sharing about our certification is beneficial for the organization, our staff, and the people we serve,” explains SIA Executive Director Jess Hamm. “It demonstrates that we are committed to building a safe, welcoming, and inclusive workplace that delivers excellent programs and services.”

Great Place to Work Certification leverages 30 years of research to quantify the current state of our workplace culture and show us how it compares to the best organizations. Great Place to Work® conducts its Trust Index© survey, and if our survey score is 65% positive or more, and we complete the Culture Brief© (a management questionnaire), we will become Great Place to Work Certified™.

The Trust Index© survey asks staff questions about their experiences at SIA along the seven dimensions of credibility, respect, fairness, pride, camaraderie, performance, and managerial index. It ends by asking staff their overall perception of SIA. All results are benchmarked against 2020 results.

Saskatchewan Intercultural Association scored 93% on the Trust Index© survey.

Here are a few survey comments from SIA Staff (anonymous):

“Management has immense trust and respect for its employees. We’re able to work how we want and have the flexibility/freedom to decide that for ourselves.”

“I don’t sense any type of rigid hierarchy or power structure. Management is very accessible and friendly and open-minded.”

“The ease at which people work. The cohesive and collaborative environment that is fostered here which optimizes productivity.”

It pays for SIA to be Great Place to Work Certified™ because certification offers several benefits:

  • Grow our bottom line – a healthy work culture and certification tells investors, candidates, and vendors that we are a safe bet.
  • Increased Innovation – companies that build an ‘innovation by all’ culture generate more high-quality ideas, realize faster implementation speed, and achieve greater agility.
  • Attract top talent – it is easier to recruit and retain employees when certified as a great place to work.
  • Know what’s working- we can assess and benchmark our culture against the world’s most successful companies to identify opportunity areas and provide a roadmap for improvement.
  • Earn national acclaim – Great Place to Work Certified™ companies have a chance to steal the spotlight by ranking on one of many Best Workplaces lists, including the national list of Best Workplaces in Canada published with The Globe and Mail.
  • Grow our brand – certification gives us the marketing resources to build brand recognition and the actionable insights to drive business results.

SIA was certified under the Best Workplaces Under 100 Employees category in the Social Services and Government Agencies industry. The certification is valid for 12 months, effective May 2021 – April 2022.

During our certification period, SIA will automatically be considered for all relevant Best Workplaces™ lists. To date, we are featured on 2020 Best Workplaces™ for Women and
2019 Best Workplaces™ Managed by Women.
