Artist’s Talk: Russna Kaur
Celebrate the launch of Russna Kaur’s project for the RBC Emerging Artist Series at Remai Modern. Extending from a painted canvas onto the museum wall, Kaur’s vibrant abstract work considers painting as a tool for mapping the self. Her linework explores ideas of lineage, connection and structure, while her colours are embedded with cultural references and memories.
The evening will begin with a reading by Kaur who uses text as part of her creative process. This will be followed by a discussion with Tarah Hogue, Remai Modern’s Curator (Indigenous Art). The event will conclude with a casual reception and cash bar.
The artist talk is free to attend with membership or admission by donation.
You can watch the Vancouver-based painter’s work-in-progress at the museum as she paints outside the elevators on Level 2 from October 26-November 4, with the final work to be unveiled on November 5.
