How Youth Catch a Vibe in YXE Summer at Tea Time with SIA!

Please join us for a beautiful morning of discussion focused on youth and how to stay healthy and have fun through Saskatoon’s fun and culture-filled summer!

We will be sharing information about popular activities, social groups, and interviewing newcomer and local youth to discuss summer wellness, youth culture, and the value of a youth’s perspective and experience.

We will be featuring Anas Mohamad, a local youth in grade 10 at Bishop James Mahoney high school in Saskatoon. Since he was eight years old, he has been playing the “Oud,” a traditional Syrian musical instrument. He participated in more than 30 multicultural events in Saskatoon. He also participated in “Theater in the Park” with Sum Theater and Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan in 2017 and 2018. Two years ago, Anas began to compose his own music with the help of various musical software. We will ask the ‘tough’ questions about what it means to be a youth and the importance of spending time outside during a hot YXE summer.

Special guests include Adrian Aquino and Peace Akintade!

Adrian Aquino is the Youth and Student Program Coordinator at Truly Alive Youth and Family Foundation Inc (TAYFFI). He will be speaking to us about TAYFFI programming offered to local youth in the Saskatoon area and discussing his culture as well!

Peace Akintade is an African Canadian Poet, Public Speaker, and Thespian residing in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. She is currently Saskatchewan Youth Poet Laureate, and co-coordinator of Write Out Loud, a Saskatoon-based Youth Poetry Community. Peace will be introducing us to poetry, how to create metaphors, and guiding us through writing prompts that will lead youth into achieving their greatest memory!

Global Story Boxes will be given out to some lucky participants who will enter their name in for the draw!
